Another interview about the CryptoLocker virus, this time with Tampa Bay's Ch10 News. Reporter Andre Senior interviewed one of our clients, Jim's Body Shop in Seminole, about their experience with the bug. On top of the vast number of customer files and work orders, management had many precious family photos saved on the computer, all held for ransom.
Fortunately for them, Pinellas Computers was able to remove the virus, and restore archives of their important information from backups and volume shadow copies.
We make the following strong recommendations:
- Keep your computer protected with antivirus / internet security software – it's the first line of defense.
- Maintain regular backups of important files
- Be cautious of suspicious emails and downloads
If you suspect your computer is infected with ransomware, contact Pinellas Computers immediately for professional removal and recovery services.
